Soft Tissue Laser Treatment

Here at Luma Dental in Toronto, we utilize an advanced soft tissue laser treatment.

The soft tissue laser allows our dentists to perform a wide variety of dental procedures more efficiently and effectively. Soft tissue laser technology in dentistry has become so important through incorporating precision into a number of common and not-so-common procedures. Dental soft tissue lasers can reshape gum tissue to expose healthier tooth structure; referred to as crown lengthening, such reshaping provides a stronger foundation for the placement of restorations.

Dental lasers can also reshape gum tissue to expose healthy tooth structure and improve the appearance of a gummy smile. A laser can also be utilized as an ideal treatment option for children who are tongue tied with a restricted or tight Frenulum, and for babies unable to breast feed adequately due to limited tongue movement.

Digital X-Ray

Digital x-rays provide improved comfort of mouth x-rays and less cranial exposure to radiation. With digital x-rays, patients can have around 70% less exposure to radiation than conventional x-rays. Digital x-rays also produce larger and clearer photos to better source hard-to-see cavities and the images can be easily stored on a computer and transferred to different dentists or orthodontists for referrals. Digital x-rays are also more environmentally friendly in the long run.

Intraoral Camera

Digital pictures are taken from inside the mouth using a camera similar to the size of a toothbrush. These pictures give our patients the ability to see what we see during a dental exam, and will aid us to properly explain your treatment plan. The intra oral pictures can also provide comparisons of the condition of your mouth before & after treatments, and be useful when sharing information about your mouth/teeth with other specialists & insurance companies.

Panoramic X-Ray

With panoramic x-rays, your dentist can easily look for problems such as bone abnormalities and fractures, cysts, impacted teeth, infections, and tumors. It’s a much faster and simpler process than traditional x-rays. Also, the panoramic technique requires fewer steps compared to traditional dental x-rays, creating a more convenient and comfortable procedure for the patient.
